Javert tactfully visited only on the morning when he knew his new father in law was about his business in the town.  Unlike Marius, of course, he did not come to continually woo his new fiancee.  Their visits together, while close and hand in hand were often about planning.  He consulted her on many things, the biggest of all where they would live.  He had asked her to come out to the country with him and had been met with hesitation, the same kind he had shown while being asked to return to Paris.

“There has been too much waste here to try and bring out child into this place,” he had said.

Happily though, his controlling and analytic mind had stayed clear and away from any wedding preparations.
